  • The objectives and modules of the training course “Oil & Gas Metering” are directly linked to the Competence Assurance Programme (CAP) as developed by SOGOS Academy. Skills are selected from the SOGOS Academy skills library and these are translated into the training course curriculum. This approach ensures that each training event will demonstrable contribute to the competence of course participants.

The management framework CAP ensures competence of all employees through:

    • the use of a unique set of skills standard to the oil & gas industry
    • a common language for skills and competence
    • the use of development/job profiles for each employee
    • fit-for-purpose training targets
    • a control mechanism to measure state of competence
  • About the trainer
With more than 35 years of experience, the trainer’s first professional study was in Electro / Electronics which was successfully followed by a dedicated study in Instrumentation and obtained several other specified certifications during his long career in the Oil & Gas industry. He joined a daughter company of Shell in 1977, the Dutch Oil Company N.A.M., where he initially worked as Instrument Technician.

In 1992 he joined Shell Global Solutions at the Shell Re-search in Amsterdam as Quality Measuring Instrument (QMI) Assistant and later as Senior Assistant Chemist Analytical Processes at Hydro-Carbon Processing. During this period he started working part-time at the Shell Head Office in The Hague as Global QMI Consultant followed by a period as Instrument and QMI Trainer at Shell International. From that moment he started his successful International career and performed several jobs : QMI Start-up & Commissioning Engineer at Reliance Petroleum Refinery Ltd. – India; Senior Consultant during in-line blending project at Shell Harburg Refinery; QMI Maintenance Engineer at Nigeria LNG and his last Shell, assignment before retirement in November 2011, was QMI-Trainer & Consultant at Sakhalin, Russia.

Currently still working as trainer to transfer his long term experience (>35 years) to young Engineers and Technicians joining the world of Instrumentation.
